剧情：
吉米（艾丽·坎伯尔 Ellie Kemper 饰）在一个崇尚世界末日的邪教中生活了整整十五年，之后才被警方救出重回社会，这不仅让吉米成为了新闻频道的当红人物，亦让她得到了人生第一桶金——来自政府的特别救援金。就这样，带着寥寥无几的行李，吉米前往纽约，准备在那里展开她全新的生活。 在纽约，吉米结识了名为狄杜思（泰塔斯·伯吉斯 Tituss Burgess 饰）的黑人歌手，两人结为了好友。吉米的乐观和开朗让怀才不遇的狄杜思坚持了自己的理想，而狄杜思则成为了吉米走入现代社会的唯一一扇窗口。和吉米一起被警方救出的还有另外四名女性，她们亦踏上了各自的人生道路。
